SEWSOhio Customer Service Center (Marysville) Although located at SEWS Marysville Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work. Associates are required to work at least three days in the office each week but also have the flexibility to work off-site. Supplier Quality Engineer I BASIC PURPOSE:
  • Coordinate and lead new component quality development as well as approval activities with suppliers to meet customer and internal quality requirements
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal Sumitomo departments (Quality, Procurement and Engineering, Manufacturing plants) for delivery of samples parts, internal evaluation, PV test approval, PPAP approval, and other quality control items.
  • Coordinate and lead supplier audits and new component evaluation activity
  • Coordinate and assist in supplier selection activities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate APQP and PPAP activities for new components and suppliers
  • Coordinate evaluation of new components to meet both customer and internal requirements
  • Educate and provide developmental support to assure suppliers understand SEWS expectations and quality system requirements
  • As needed, evaluate component samples in the evaluation lab
  • Identify missing PPAPs per new project new component list; request PPAPs from suppliers; process and approve PPAPs
  • Investigate, analyze and track countermeasure activity for new suppliers and new components
  • Maintain records of supplier quality activity
  • Perform various types of audits at supplier facilities (Pre-production audits, Tool review audits, New supplier audits). Travel is up to 30% and largely North America
  • Plan, organize and implement activities to assure the quality for new components and materials developed and controlled by Sumitomo
QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENT:
  • BS degree in engineering field required (BSEE, BSME preferred)
  • 0-3 years experience in Quality Engineering experience in auto industry components development a plus
  • English/Japanese or Spanish Bilingual preferred
  • Team orientated with good communication skills and strong motivation to challenging tasks
  • Capable of multi-tasking (product maturation/planning/component evaluation/writing procedures/etc.)
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel (intermediate or advanced) and PowerPoint
  • Typing speed of 50 characters per minute
