About the roleThis position has overall responsibility for the injection molding operations. Primary objectives include managing and optimizing the performance of injection molding and serving as subject matter expert as it relates to materials, processing, and equipment. Provide the operational supervision for all employees in these functions. This role provides the opportunity to work within the Network Solutions Business Unit of Leviton Manufacturing Company Inc.
Responsibilities- Manage all aspects of a production molding operation including, but not limited to, safety, quality, productivity, resource allocation, and molding optimization.
- Create, monitor, and support department KPIs for continuous process improvement.
- Review records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures.
- Work in concert with supporting groups to define and implement processing windows for all parts.
- Work with staff at all levels to increase the aptitude and skills as they relate to injection molding (materials, equipment including tooling, and processing.)
- Utilize knowledge of materials and processing to troubleshoot production issues and make the molding adjustments necessary to maintain quality and maximize production output.
- Perform problem-solving using 8D methodology to develop corrective actions for customer issues or to initiate continuous improvement initiatives.
- Plan and manages capital and continuous improvement projects to completion to meet departmental efficiency, productivity and cost improvement objectives.
- Coordinate effectively with technicians in molding, the tool room, as well as outside service providers when required, regarding maintenance or repair of tooling and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing company standards and procedures.
- Effectively coach, mentor, train, and hire workforce.

- Ability to exercise independent judgment with limited instruction and guidance.
Physical Demands
- Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn.
- Eye protection must be worn outside the office environment.
- There is potential for lifting weights up to 45 lbs. and the incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures.
- The occasional physical demands of the position include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
- May stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to work near moving mechanical machinery.
- Exposed to material found in the MSDS located strategically throughout the production area
Education & Experience
Education
- High School Diploma required
- Associates Degree preferred
- Previous education and/or training in plastics processing technology a plus
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an injection molding environment required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role required
- Proven experience with injection molding resins, tooling, injection processing and molding equipment
- Previous forklift experience preferred, operator certification is a plus
- Prior knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent)
