Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer to support projects across various industries, including power plants, oil and gas processing facilities, water treatment plants, and data centers . This role is responsible for evaluating facilities and equipment to determine the appropriate fire protection requirements, ensuring compliance with state and local codes.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret and apply state and local fire protection codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA).
- Proactively manage and communicate fire protection requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop code and hazard analysis reports, detailed fire protection specifications, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and hydraulic calculations .
- Review detailed sprinkler and alarm system designs for compliance and accuracy.
- Liaise with city and local officials, applying for variances where needed.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, policies, and safety standards.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program in the U.S.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of fire protection engineering experience.
- Licensing: Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and be in active pursuit of or already hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with power plants, oil and gas facilities, water treatment facilities, or data centers .
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with engineering design principles, quality standards, construction practices, and procurement processes.
