Summary - basic function of the role The Manufacturing Engineer is an Engineer who has between 0-5 yrs of Fulltime experience. You will play a crucial role in optimizing our production processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing systems, as well as troubleshooting issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives at the Columbus manufacturing facility. Shift: Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 4:00 pm Job Duties and Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing products. Identify and implement improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs. Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams. Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to equipment, processes, or materials. Conduct time studies, analyze production data, and implement lean manufacturing principles. Design and implement layouts for equipment and workspaces to maximize efficiency and safety. Select and implement new manufacturing equipment and technologies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, quality assurance, and maintenance, to ensure seamless production. Develop and execute validation and testing protocols for manufacturing processes. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track process performance and identify areas for improvement. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Train production personnel on new processes and equipment. Prepare reports and presentations summarizing manufacturing performance and improvement initiatives. Skills and Competencies Understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, fabrication, controls, etc. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Pro E). Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen). Experience with process optimization, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques. Familiarity with quality management systems and statistical process control (SPC). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environment. Education and Experience Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering or equivalent from a four-year college or university required. Experience Requirements: Zero to five years related experience. Machining and assembly/test operations, tooling evaluation, supplier qualification, facilities engineering, new product introduction processes and cost savings through improved processes/efficiencies are strongly preferred. Physical Demands Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk to a variety of primary work locations. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time. Work Environment Employee will work in a manufacturing environment. Employee will be exposed to low levels of noise in the office and potentially elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
