Director of Research and Development Jobs
The Director of Research and Development (R&D) in the manufacturing engineering industry is responsible for overseeing the creation of new products and innovations. They work on improving existing product designs and come up with strategies for the development of new ones. This role involves managing R&D teams, setting project goals, ensuring project timelines are met, collaborating with marketing teams to understand customer needs, and liaising with production departments to ensure the manufacturability of the new designs. A successful Director of R&D should be inventive, analytical, and possess excellent leadership skills. They should have a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and materials. Certifications such as the Certified Research Developer (CRD) or Project Management Professional (PMP) can be beneficial.
